BUG BE GONE FAQs
How often do I need to reapply?
Reapply every 2-3 hours that you are exposed to mosquitos or ticks, or as needed.
What’s the most effective way to apply Bug Be Gone?
Generously apply Bug Be Gone by spraying directly on your skin and rub it in. To apply to your face, neck, and hard to reach places, try spraying Bug Be Gone into your hand and then apply to your skin. Keep away from eyes, ears, nose, and other sensitive or irritated areas of the body. Wash hands when done applying to avoid accidentally touching your eyes.
Can I use Bug Be Gone on my kids?
Bug Be Gone contains natural ingredients (including essential oils) that may irritate young and/or sensitive skin. Here are some tips for Bug Be Gone and children:
- If your child is under 2-3 years old and/or has sensitive skin, we recommend applying Bug Be Gone lightly to your hand and then touch the child’s clothing, shoes/socks, and a hat (instead of the skin). If your child is 2-3+ years or has sensitive skin, test Bug Be Gone on the skin before applying. Or, continue to apply Bug Be Gone only to their clothing, regardless of the age.
- If irritation or an allergic reaction occurs, immediately discontinue use and wash the skin with soap and water. You may also apply a natural oil (such as Olive or Coconut Oil) to a paper towel or cotton ball and wipe affected area(s).
- To avoid overspray and overuse, first apply Bug Be Gone to your hand, then touch the child’s skin/clothing.
- Keep out of reach of children and keep away from children’s eyes, mouth, nostrils, ears, and hands (so they don’t touch their eyes or mouth).
- The book “Essential Oil Safety” by Robert Tisserand is an invaluable resource for understanding the safe use of essential oils for all ages.
Can I use Bug Be Gone on my pets?
This is our most popular question. Bug Be Gone was developed with humans in mind, so we aren’t able to recommend its use on dogs or horses. If you choose to use Bug Be Gone on your furry friend, please proceed with caution. A little goes a long way. Some customers have shared success with applying a little Bug Be Gone to their hand, then touching the dog’s collar. Please keep in mind that our furry friends have sensitive sniffers, and could easily become overwhelmed by Bug Be Gone’s delightful aroma.
A special note about Cats – Due to their highly sensitive metabolic systems, cats and essential oils do not mix. We strongly advise against using Bug Be Gone on your cat.
